Dr. Chris Hiura graduated from the University of California at Berkeley’s School of Optometry after receiving his Bachelor’s degree and graduating Cum Laude from the University of California at Irvine.
Dr. Hiura is glaucoma certified and has interned with the San Francisco VA Medical Center where he co-managed many cases of ocular disease with the UCSF Ophthalmology department. Dr. Hiura then served on the Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, where he practiced primary care-based optometry, including acute eye care, co-management of refractive surgery care (LASIK and PRK), and contact lens fittings. He then partnered with the Miami VA Medical Center where Optometry and Ophthalmology collaborate closely. Dr. Hiura completed his rotations at the Meredith W. Morgan University Eye Center, where he focused on low vision, binocular vision vision therapy, visual functions, and specialty contact lenses.
In his spare time, Dr. Hiura enjoys being active, playing sports such as basketball and golf, as well as traveling. He is also a member of the California Optometric Association, American Optometric Association, and the American Academy of Optometry.
